Rumour becoming a reality?

Fear must be plagueing all of us who live in Mozambique, this afternoon I turned on the TV just to hear that the opposition had officially cancelled the peace accord that was signed in 1992 to end the 17 year civil war in other words its official, war is now a definite option.

If you remember friend, sometime back I blogged about the possibility of a civil war in this country. At that time it was just rumours today after the oppositions army base was attacked and occupied by the national army with the apparent aim of either killing the opposition leader or capturing him (of which they didn’t succeed) things have taken a definite turn for the worst. I will not enter the realm of trying to explain in greater detail what the political problems are, I am no expert on such matters. The fact is in the North of Mozambique where the attack happened it is reported that communities have fled their homes for fear of being caught in the cross fire. The horrors of the last war are still very fresh in most of the older generations minds.

It is said when the civil war started back in the 80s most people thought it was a joke that it was the empty talk of politicians and angry men … for the sake of this nation may this be the case for us this time around.Β  Hope is always the last to die!

Please pray for us, pray for peace…knowing how the international media acts the problems occurring in this country may only hit the spotlight if something worse happens.

  1. Oh, that is terrible news. It must not happen. There is too much war in this world, and your country had enough. We need more women in power, we need more sensible people in power, the world over. Take care.

  2. Oh no. And I hear what you are saying; the goodness of technology is also a stumbling block- real suffering is reduced to the latest stats veiwed from the comfort of my/ our homes 😦
Praying that by Gods grace it comes to nothing, that war does not come again.
“…Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth,
Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you be destroyed in your way,
For his wrath can flare up in a moment, blessed are all who take refuge in him.” Psalm 2:10-12
