Blueberries

Last week I made friends with a couple, Ken and Sondra (this is off the reserve) turns out they are passionate blueberry pickers so when they invited me to join them on one of their trips to their favorite spot in Nipigon I eagerly said yes! My muscles ached for days after that day but oh, my, did I thoroughly enjoy the outing! Thank you Sondra for sharing your world with me!

I always thought moss only came in different shades of green. It was my first time to see that it also comes in different shades of orange.

When I started, I thought it would be impossible to fill up 1.2 gallons but after 4 and a half hours of joyful picking I out did myself :)

Of course Sondra and Ken picked far more than I did in the same amount of time!

  1. What a heaven! This is my kind of heaven, Shula, since childhood. What we call blueberries (in Norwegian) is actuelly billberries, and a bit smaller. But so nice, and I love this kind of outing. it looks the same as your place, and I am so glad you enjoyed it. it is of the simple pleasures of this world, but nice. I hope you like eating them too. We even have the same kind of moss (Sphagnum). ity is antiseptic. If your hands get dirty in the woods, you just use some of this moss to clean them…

  2. Great that you were able to pick that many. How do you like the taste???? I had the pleasure earlier to go to a friend of mine to pick the berries from their tree. Love to have them in pancakes, smoothies and cobblers. Have enough to last me a couple of months….
Thank you for sharing! Shalom. ~Lia
